When a warehouse needs to set up a temporary storage area or deal with changing storage requirements, selecting the right equipment is crucial. The Challenge: Finding the Optimal Stacking Solution for a Temporary Storage Area

A client in the consumer goods sector planned to create a temporary, stackable storage area within their finished goods warehouse. The products were boxed wet wipes, already placed on 1100x1100mm plastic pallets. Their core needs and questions included:

• Temporariness and Flexibility: They required non-permanent racking that could be quickly deployed when needed and easily moved or stored when not in use.
• Storage Requirements: A single pallet of goods weighed 600kg with a total height of 1700mm, and they needed to achieve a three-tier stack of goods (one on the floor, two on racks).
• Solution Comparison: The client wanted to understand the pros, cons, and pricing of two different types of stacking racks to make an informed choice.

A Consultative Approach: Presenting Two Viable Solutions

Our role extends beyond being a supplier; we act as solutions consultants. We designed two detailed proposals for the client and clearly articulated the features, advantages, and trade-offs of each.

Option A: The Inverted Stacking Rack (Rerack) – Focused on Cost-Effectiveness and Stability

This is a fixed-type stacking rack designed for efficiency and economy.

How it works: After placing the first tier of palletized goods on the floor, only two inverted racks are needed to stack the second and third tiers. The upper pallet sits directly on the top frame of the lower rack.

Advantages:

• Lower Cost: Achieving a three-tier stack requires only two rack sets, significantly reducing material costs.
• Structural Stability: The welded, one-piece structure is inherently very stable.
• Nestable When Empty: When not in use, multiple empty racks can be nested together, saving valuable storage space.

Suitable for: Clients who are cost-sensitive and do not need to frequently disassemble the racks or use them as standalone pallets.

Option B: The Demountable Post Pallet (Strack) – Focused on Ultimate Flexibility and Versatility

This is a sectional stacking rack, with multifunctionality and variability at its core.

How it works: Each tier of goods requires a separate post pallet set (base + posts).

Advantages:

• Ultimate Flexibility: The posts can be removed from the base, and when fully disassembled, they occupy minimal space for transport and storage.
• Dual-Purpose: With the posts removed, the base itself is a robust metal pallet that can directly replace the client's existing plastic pallets, ideal for use in automated palletizing lines.
• Engineering Optimization: Considering the tall height of the goods (1700mm), traditional four-post designs could be prone to swaying. We innovatively designed the posts as two "gate-shaped" frames connected by tie bars, which greatly enhances stability for high-level storage.

Conclusion: There is No "Best," Only "Most Suitable"

Through a clear comparative analysis of the two options, we helped the client clarify their core priorities. The client could ultimately make the optimal choice based on how they weighed cost against flexibility.
